ThermoTile can be installed under most types of flooring, including wood, laminate, vinyl and carpet when embedded in thin-set mortar or self-leveling cement. It comes with the following features and benefits: Provides the least labor-intensive method of installing floor heat cable due to cable-on-mesh construction. The mesh can be cut to turn the mat and to custom-fit the heated area on-site. The ½” openings in the mesh allow thin-set to penetrate for a one-**** tile or stone installation. The use of self-leveling cement allows for the installation of almost any type of floor covering and for later replacement of the floor covering without damage to the heating system. The factory-attached lead wire on only one end of the mat simplifies the electrical connection. The commercial-grade, fiberglass mesh holds the cable flat for easy installation and strengthens the floor serving as an anti-fracture membrane. Dual cable construction and inner foil shield virtually eliminate electro-magnetic field and interference with electronic appliances. 1/8″ thin cable limits raising the floor height to the thickness of the mortar layer and the floor covering. Limited lifetime warranty UL Listed for the U.S. and Canada. Can be combined with Cerazorb® synthetic cork (sold separately) to achieve subfloor thermal insulation and uncoupling to prevent tile and grout cracking. Factory-direct prices and support. Enjoy the affordable luxury of warm tile in your bathrooms, *******, basement, or anywhere in your **** with ThermoTile® made by ThermoSoft!

**** 2. Spread thin-set mortar over ThermoTile or pour self-leveling cement. Plastic trowel If spreading thin-set mortar directly over the radiant floor heating mats in one ****, we recommend using a plastic trowel to prevent cutting the heating wires. Or, you can use the flat side of the trowel, and float a skim coat of thin-set that just covers the heating wire, then lay tile in a second ****. Or, you can pour a layer of self-leveling cement, let dry, then lay tile, laminate, carpet, linoleum or other types of floating and glued down floors.

While you can hire a pro to do a radiant-floor retrofit, it’s not a difficult *** if you’re comfortable setting floor tiles. We recommend that a licensed electrician hook up the *** electrical circuit. The objective is to cover the subfloor with a continuous, closely spaced pattern of heating cable, connect it to a thermostat on the *** circuit, and cover the cable with thinset and tile. There are two types of cable systems on the market. The SunTouch system uses heating cable that’s woven into 1- or 2-****-wide plastic mats. While the mats can be cut to extend the cable into odd-shaped areas, this system is easiest to use when your installation area is rectangular. The heating cable for the Warm Tiles Electric Floor Warming System from EasyHeat is supplied in lengths determined by layout requirements. The cable fits in slotted plastic channels fastened to the floor at right angles to cable runs. This system has a **** advantage when the installation needs to go around curves or extend into odd-shaped corners. The **** way to get started with either system is to make a scale drawing of the floor plan and identify the “walking area” where the cable will run. You don’t want cable under or against cabinets, a tub, ****** enclosure, and the like; it should also be at least 6 inches from wax seals for toilets or bidets. Send a copy of your floor plan to the cable supplier (see Where to Find It). The technical support staff can determine the optimum layout and quantity of cable you need. Standard thermostats are available for each system, but you’re better off spending a few extra dollars for a setback *****. You’ll save energy by cutting heat during periods when the system is in use. Once the cable is down and the wiring is hooked up, all that remains is the tile ****. While these systems are compatible with any tile, there are certain thinsets that **** better than others; check with the cable supplier for specific recommendations.
